Smultron

Good TASTY things DO come in small packages.

They say that the best things in life are free. Indeed they are free especially when you can pluck them off the ground or from the trees. Sweden is also known for her beautiful natural surroundings other than Swedish meatballs, ABBA and IKEA, y'know!

I have heard and read about these wild strawberries but never once during my early days living in Stockholm have I seen some. I remembered visiting Göteborg in April 2010 for the first time to meet one of my first three friends on Facebook since it first launched into the cyber world. We were walking around the city central when he pointed out to a basket displayed outside a konditori and told me that those were smultron, the Swedish wild strawberries. He mentioned that I can find them in the forest.

Smultron are indeed super tiny! The cool thing is that I don't have to go into the forest because they are right there outside the doorsteps of where I live. It was by chance that I discovered them one day while helping Isa trimming the long grass. It was at the summer house at Simpnäs that I found load of smultron growing wildly at the driveway.

Once you pop, you cannot stop!

I love smultron as they are tiny like me, very aromatic sweet, juicy, a little more seedy which I don't mind and they make a great snack.
